1.   What is The Network of Experts?
   

The Network of Experts is a global network of industry professionals, subject matter experts, and people knowledgeable about products, processes, or customers. The Network include people with varying degrees of experience and types of experience, from a wide range of industries.

2.   Why should I join The Network of Experts?
   

You are an experienced professional interested in taking advantage of this unique supplemental consulting opportunity. You would like to earn consulting fees – at a rate set by you - for providing insights and perspectives on your area of expertise. You are interested in networking with other professionals, and sharing your thoughts on cutting edge issues, all in an organized and professional setting. 3.   What kinds of people join the Network?
   

Network experts are knowledgeable people with diverse backgrounds. The include people who are familiar with products, customers, technologies, business processes, and legal and accounting issues. We value diversity of experience. Most Members are fully employed outside of The Network of Experts, but we also have Members who are retired, on leave, or between jobs. Please see the About Us section of this site for more information.

4.   Am I qualified?
   

You may well be. Our experts have varying levels and types of experience across a wide range of areas. We look for decision makers, thought leaders and experts in their fields. We also look for people who have exposure to processes, products and customers. If you are unsure and are interested in joining, please fill out an application to find out if you qualify.

Previous consulting experience is not required, nor is experience in working with professional investors.

5.   Do I have to have consulting experience?
   

No. Some of our Members are experienced consultants, but many are not.

6.   What is my role as a Member?
   

Members are expected to, from time to time, answer surveys, either online or over the telephone, engage in telephone conversations, and meet in person with Clients. You would only be expected to discuss topics that you are comfortable discussing and where you have no conflicts of interest.

7.   Who will be receiving my services?
   

You will generally consult with professional investment managers and other decision makers who seek to better understand current issues and trends in your industry and area of expertise.

8.   What will Clients want to talk about?
   

Clients are often interested in industry trends, products and services that you are familiar with, and in general education in your area of expertise. You are expected to discuss only what you are knowledgeable about, feel comfortable covering, and have no conflict of interest in discussing.

9.   How do I go about providing consultations?
   

Members respond to surveys, either online or by telephone, and engage in conversations with Clients, either by telephone or in person. You can find more information on the process by following the How it Works link on this site.

10.   What is the nature of the surveys I may be asked to complete?
   

Surveys are usually short in nature and should generally take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. They are administered either on line (through this site) or by telephone. The survey administrator will be someone from Greenwood Research.

11.   How are projects brought to me and how long do I have to respond?
   

Members are contacted by telephone or email when a suitable project becomes available. (Email is our primary means of communication with Members.) Members must then respond within 48 hours of availability. Surveys should be completed within 24 hours of acknowledgement of availability, and in person consultations and telephone consultations should be completed within one week.

12.   How often should I anticipate being called? Is there a minimum time commitment?
   

The Network of Experts is designed with the schedules of busy professionals in mind. The total number of surveys and consultations that you will be asked to complete will depend on many factors, including your area of expertise and the pace of current events in your area. There is no minimum time commitment, and you always have the option to accept or decline any project invitation.

13.   How and when will I be paid for my services?
   

When you apply, you will be asked to provide what you consider to be a fair hourly rate for your services. After completing a survey or consultation, you will be paid by Greenwood Research. Payment normally occurs within 30 days of project completion.

14.   How does the application process work?
   

It's very simple. You should first fill out the Application, and read and accept the Terms and Conditions. Once you submit your application. We will review it. We generally reply within seven days, although we may contact you with additional questions. Once your application is accepted, you are eligible to receive invitations for consulting assignments.

15.   Who sponsors and manages The Network of Experts?
   

The Network of Experts is sponsored and managed by Greenwood Research. Greenwood Research formed The Network of Experts as a way to help professional investors and others to better understand issues and trends in industries. The Network of Experts helps investment professionals to make better informed decisions.

16.   What is Value Chain Research?
   

Greenwood Research employs a methodology we call Value Chain Research. We look at industries as value chains of interrelated products, services, and capabilities. We seek to understand issues by understanding the pieces of the value chain. It is through this process that The Network of Experts adds collective insights.

17.   How are conflicts of interest handled?
   

If you are invited to participate in a project and you have a conflict of interest with that project, you must decline the invitation. As is spelled out in our Terms and Conditions, Members are expected to comply with all outside obligations. If you are engaged in a project and identify a conflict, please contact us immediately, either via email or via the telephone number that will be provided to you.

18.   Will my employer allow me to join?
   

Most Members are actively employed. If you are unsure of your ability to participate, we ask that your first confirm with your employer that you may participate. Once you join, you will not be expected or permitted to comment on matters that you are restricted from discussing.

19.   What if I cannot accept direct compensation?
   

Some of our Members are restricted from accepting direct compensation. Any Member may for any reason elect to not receive direct compensation. For these Members, we will gladly donate the fees to which they would otherwise been entitled to the charity of their choice. Once you become a Member, please contact Member Services so that appropriate arrangements can be made. If you are unsure as to whether you can accept fees, please consult with your employer.

20.   Is The Network of Experts exclusive?
   

Members may, at their discretion, join other organizations and may provide consulting services on their own. We ask only that relationships initiated through The Network of Experts continue through The Network of Experts.

We ask only that relationships initiated through The Network of Experts continue to work through The Network of Experts.

22.   What do I do if a Client directly solicits my advice following a meeting?
   

From time to time, a Client will desire further input from a Member. We ask that all such meetings be coordinated through Greenwood Research or The Network of Experts.

    Absolutely. We recruit in the United States and globally.

No, but a basic proficiency in English is required.

Greenwood Research performs in-depth work in order to identify qualified new experts globally. Greenwood Research occasionally uses third parties to help with this process.

The information we collect is used solely to match Member expertise with Clients’ needs, to arrange for your compensation, and to manage The Network of Experts. We need to match Member expertise with Clients' needs. We also need to be able to pay you. Your personal information will never be sold to third parties. No, generally not. We do not make Member information available without explicit permission from the Member.

Yes. Survey details are only disseminated to Clients. Aggregated, summary results, will occasionally be disseminated more widely. Member participation is always kept confidential.

Must I comply with the Terms and Conditions?

   

Yes. By joining The Network of Experts, you are agreeing to be bound by the Terms and Conditions of the service. These Terms and Conditions are intended to maintain the integrity of the Network, the research process, and your role as a Member.
